This map contains many remarks related to colonial Brazil and the surrounding areas. For example, we can read that the Tapayofos people are a numerous and a warlike nation and the people of Xarayes abound with gold and silver. A mapmaker’s note on why the (imaginary) island of Ascension was omitted from being mapped is also provided.
